Double Crust Pizza

This week I wanted to step away from the baked good and sweets. Instead, I wanted to bake something else that I loved... PIZZA! As I was searching online for various recipes, I stumbled across one which seemed to be very interesting and fun to make. It is called double crust pizza. I used this as a bonding experience with my brother and we had a good time making it!

Originally we wanted to make the crust from scratch however we found that to be unrealistic at the time. Instead, we bought 2 cans of Pillsbury pizza crust. We also bought the rest of the ingredients which would be various types of cheeses, tomato sauce, and pepperoni. It was a lengthy process that didn't end up going the way we wanted it to. For instance, the crust didn't look as nice as we thought it would and the pizza was entirely too greasy. Other than that the pizza was delicious (once we wiped off all the excess grease)! The double crust with cheese in between was a nice touch and I wouldn't mind making it again.

Rice Krispie Sushi

My oven is a little under the weather, but that won't stop me from making a fun treat! I know, this is supposed to be a blog about baking but with no oven the show must go on! While searching around the internet, I found a little treat called Rice Krispie Sushi. At first I thought this would be disgusting, until I read up on the actual ingredients. So as I'm sure you already know this isn't real sushi. The rice is replaced with Rice Krispie treat, the fish are replaced with Swedish Fish, and the leaf is replaced with fruit rollup! Do you have a sugar high yet? If not, you will after you make this yummy treat!

The first steps include making Rice Krispie treats. One of the easiest things to make! The amount of marshmallows you need are based on your own personal preference, I tend to use a lot. However, be careful. The more marshmallows you use the more difficult it is to deal with. Once thats done you can cut the Rice Krispies into squares and add the swedish fish and fruit rollup!

Peach Biscuits

Last week I made banana pudding which involved me using fresh fruit. Today I wanted to expand on that topic. The other day I saw a recipe on how to make peach cobbler. However, I made a slight twist to it where I would be putting the peaches inside buttermilk biscuits. Initially I thought this would be a great idea, but I was wrong.

Once the biscuits went into the oven, the dough began to rise which essentially pushed the peaches out of the biscuit. By the end of the baking period, there would be one or two peaches still remaining within the biscuit.

Although all the biscuits did not come out to be a complete fail, overall it was a mess. In the future I need to figure out the appropriate kind of dough to use because clearly buttermilk biscuits were not the best choice.
